Calgary Stampede Bit
As a designer/creator I often have the desire to get out of the box. With this bit, exploration happened in many different areas. The mouthpiece was one that I had a general idea of a taller port, but wanted to have some shape to it that created some added surface area. I used some recently learned forging techniques to help me The shank is one that I have never attempted but has always interested me. Les Garcia is one that I know made the bit previously, but I can’t say where it’s origin came from. I put my twist to architecture that fits my taste. The Concho is another area that I am constantly wanting to explore. The border around the dome is something that troubles me as designer. We often fall into a pattern so I wanted to add some interest influenced from old architecture. And finally with each piece my engraving is a journey to create more depth and feel. This bit was fun and very satisfying for me to.
