The Inheritance
The Inheritance
Wilson W. Capron · 2023 Handforged Steel · Relief Engraving · 24k Gold · Fine Silver · One Piece"I want you to be able to ride it. And I want it to separate you from the rest."
Today's horse industry is more active than it's ever been. Styles come and go and make their return. This piece was built in direct response to that current — designs that work, traditions worth honoring, and the space between them where a master gets to leave his mark.
Two legends shaped it. One hand made it something neither of them could have.
The shanks of this bit are inspired by the work of Jim Edwards — a widely respected maker and Wilson's friend. The mouthpiece draws on a variation refined over years by Wilson's mentor, Greg Darnall — a trusted choice among serious riders for decades.
What Wilson did with those foundations is the piece you're looking at.
Relief-engraved scrolls, cut by hand — one pass at a time — into solid steel. Each scroll raised from the surface by the same hand that forged the metal beneath it. 24k gold inlay set into channels cut directly into the steel, burnished flush until the two materials become one. Fine silver and 24k gold pinstripes that frame the whole piece the way a gilded border commands a painting.
Every element placed with intention. Nothing accidental. Nothing decorative for decoration's sake.
This bit will ride exactly the way any serious horseman expects it to.
It looks like nothing they've ever touched.

There is one of these.
Not one in a run of ten.
Not one of a limited edition.
One — made once, by one hand,
never to be repeated.
When it finds its home, it's gone.
